Congresswoman Summer Lee represents Pennsylvania’s 12th District, which includes Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. She made history in 2022 as the first Black woman elected to Congress from Pennsylvania. Before heading to Washington, Summer was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where she championed progressive causes like affordable housing, workers’ rights, and criminal justice reform. In her race for the State House and doubled voter turnout in her district while taking on a 20-year incumbent. As a strong advocate for social justice, Summer is focused on tackling systemic inequality, expanding healthcare access, and addressing climate change. She’s one of the newer member of ‘The Squad’ and continues to organize around progressive causes.
